How It Works

1

Grab a Pintxo Passport

Pick one up at Despaña Fine Foods & Tapas Café or at any participating restaurant; $1 each with proceeds benefiting New York Cares.

2

Crawl the City

Visit any stop between 3–7PM (or listed service hours). Access the house pintxo plus an Estrella Galicia mini or a Cueva Nueva vermouth pour when you show your passport.

3

Get Stamped

Collect a stamp at every stop. Complete your passport for entry into the $100 gift card raffle — 15 cards up for grabs, one per participating restaurant.

4

Vote for the Best

Cast your vote for the winning pintxo. The champion is featured at Despaña's Pintxo Saturday Showcase and will hold the honors of Pintxo Crawl Champion.

Pintxo 101

Wait — what's a pintxo?

Pronounced PEEN-cho, from the Spanish pinchar, "to pierce." Born in the bars of San Sebastián and Bilbao, a pintxo is a small, sculptural bite — often skewered to a slice of bread — meant to be eaten standing at the bar, drink in hand, before moving on to the next spot.

That's the whole culture: you don't settle in. You txikitear — hop from bar to bar, one bite and one pour at a time, with friends in tow. This crawl brings that ritual to New York.

FAQ

Do I need a ticket?

No ticket, no reservation. Just show up with your Pintxo Passport during pintxo hours and pay $10-$12 per stop.

Where do I get a Pintxo Passport?

Pick one up starting August 29 at Despaña Fine Foods & Tapas Café's monthly Pintxo Day — our shop is a consistent pickup point all crawl long. Every participating restaurant also sells passports on the spot for $1, so you can join wherever you happen to be.

How do I vote for my favorite pintxo?

Scan the QR code on your Pintxo Passport to cast your vote. No minimum number of stops required — but you only get one vote, so choose wisely. Voting closes Monday, September 14.

What time of the day can I get a pintxo?

Pintxo service runs 3–7PM daily at every stop, unless a restaurant's card above notes a different window — worth a quick check before you head out.

Can I spread the crawl across multiple days?

Absolutely — the crawl runs September 5–13. Hit one stop a day or all 14 in a weekend, however it fits your schedule.

How does the raffle work?

Collect a stamp at each of the 15 participating restaurants when you purchase your pintxo. Once your passport is fully stamped, drop it off at Despaña Fine Foods & Tapas Café by Saturday, September 26 for a chance to win one of 15 $100 gift cards — one from each restaurant.

What does the winning restaurant get?

The restaurant with the most-voted pintxo is crowned the Despaña Pintxo Crawl Champion for the year. They take home a trophy, get their winning pintxo featured across Despaña's social channels, have it served at Despaña's Pintxo Saturday Showcase at the end of the month, and receive a credit toward future Despaña Brand Foods wholesale orders.

Is there a non-alcoholic option?

Yes — every restaurant can swap in a non-alcoholic option for your sponsored beverage. Just ask your server when you order your pintxo.

What's NY Cares, and why does $1 from my passport go to them?

NY Cares connects New Yorkers to hands-on volunteer opportunities across the city. Every dollar from passport sales goes directly to them — so your $1 does double duty: it gets you into the crawl and supports their work.

Who We Are

About Despaña

From conservas and cured meats to specialty cheeses and vegetable preserves, Despaña has spent decades bringing the true flavors of Spain to New York — sourced directly from small, artisan producers and shared through our shops, kitchens nationwide, and now, this crawl. Every pintxo on this list carries that same spirit: Spanish ingredients, done right.
